Internet and Computers

Using the Internet at the Library
The Mariposa County Library provides free access to the Internet to meet the information needs of our users and to provide residents with opportunities for learning about information technology. The library is not responsible for the quality or accuracy of material found on the Internet. Users should critically evaluate its content. Please read our Internet Policy & Guidelines.

Computers
Public access computers are available at all branch libraries for the use of adults and children.

Patrons with library cards can use any available computer by logging in using their barcode number. If all computers are in use, a system for patrons to reserve the next available computer can be utilized.

The computers provide Internet access, as well as word processing, spreadsheet, publishing, and reference programs. Users also have access to interactive learning programs designed for elementary through high school age students. Children's programs include interactive learning games for preschoolers to beginning readers.

The Mariposa Library provides two additional computers available for non-Internet use. One is for online testing and another is for the law library.

Each branch library has at least one public computer with a usable USB port, allowing for the use of thumb drives.

Online Catalogs
The online catalogs in the library allow users to look up items by title, author, subject, keyword, call number, etc. Users can place holds on items that are currently checked out, or place holds on items owned by other libraries.
