Library Areas
Children's Room
The Children's Room in the main library is designed for toddlers to preteens. Storybooks and general fiction for different reading levels are shelved in separate areas. There is a large collection of non-fiction books for young readers, as well as children's magazines, audio books, videos, and a reference collection. Computers with interactive learning games, word processing, and reference programs are available for use by children. An audio station with headphones is available for children to listen to audios while in the library. Parent Corner
The Parent Corner located in the Children's Room of the main library features a collection of books, magazines, and videos on subjects of interest to parents raising young families in today's world. All branch libraries include collections for parents.

Young Adults
The main library's young adult section regularly undergoes improvements suggested by local teens. This area features classic and popular fiction and non-fiction, reference books, audios, videos, music, and magazines that are of interest to teens. New Books
Recently published fiction and non-fiction books are shelved in the New Books section near the entrance of the main library. All branch libraries have separate areas for new books.

Computers
Computer stations with Internet access are available at all branch libraries.

Reference
Reference areas contain books and other materials that cannot be checked out, but are available for use in the library or for photocopying. Library staff can assist you in finding the information you need. If the information cannot be found, library users can submit reference questions or request materials via interlibrary loan.

Fiction
Adult fiction books are shelved in different areas by type: mysteries, science fiction, westerns, romances, and general fiction. Paperback collections are also separately shelved.

Non-fiction
Adult non-fiction books account for the largest collection in the library. Some of the library's subject strengths include art history, cookbooks, crafts and needlework, American literature, biographies, and history of the American West.

Large Print
Fiction and non-fiction books printed in large type for easy-on-the-eyes reading are shelved in a separate section. This is a rapidly growing collection with many new and recently published books, along with classics, mysteries, westerns, romances, and biographies.

Videos and Audios
Movies, documentaries, instructional and self-help videos, as well as fiction and non-fiction audios are available at all branch libraries. Collections of music CDs and video DVDs are ever-increasing.

Audio Stations
The main library has audio stations that can be used to listen to books and music through headphones while in the library.

Magazines and Newspapers
The main library has a comfortable magazine and newspaper reading area near tall north-facing windows. Current issues of magazines can be read in the library only, and back issues can be checked out. All branch libraries have current magazine collections.

Copy Center
The copy machine near the entrance of the main library makes black and white photocopies in three sizes: letter, legal, and 11x17. Photocopies cost 10¢ per side for letter and legal size, and 25¢ per side for 11x17. All branch libraries also have copy machines available for public use.

Microfilm Readers
Two microfilm and microfiche readers and printers are available for use near the circulation desk in the main library. Users have access to the library's collection of back issues of the Mariposa Gazette newspaper, local 1800s census records, and various local court and government records on microfilm and microfiche. Also available to those with Mariposa County Library cards is interlibrary loan service whereby certain materials on microform may be borrowed from other libraries, sent here, and used by the borrower in the library. Photocopies from these machines cost 25¢ for letter size and 50¢ for 11x17.
